I know this sounds prepostorous, but think about it. Lincoln, Roosevelt, and Churchill were all exremely unpopular in their countries and were initially failures during their leadership. Half the US hated Lincoln and he was assasinated. Yet today, he is considered one of the best leaders America ever had by almost everyone, including people in the South. Roosevelt was severely disliked for his socialist-like policies, and delayed the US entering WWII at first. Churchill was unpopular in the UK even for most of WWII, yet 60+ years down the road, most Britons forgot about this and Winston Churchill is officially the 2nd greatest Briton of all time and considered by the majority of the British to be their best leader of all time. Bush is obviously unpopular, yet recently, the top anti-war man in Washington admitted the troop surge in Iraq is working and that the war has gotten better. The Taliban has almost been completely run out of Afghanistan.

Most Americans were against entering WWII and Roosevelt was widely despised. Lincoln was despised when he fought slavery in the US, but succeeded, Churchill and Roosevelt were unpopular when they fought against tyranny and Nazism, but they succeeded, and Bush is widely unpopular when he is fighting Islamofascism, but Afghanistan has almost been won, and the number of US deaths in Iraq have drastically decreased, the leader of the Shiite insurgents is rallying his people to concentrate on fighting al-Qaeda instead of the US, and there is video that shows Shiites battling al-Qaeda. John Murtha, the most anti-war man in Washington, admitted the troop surge is working and Iraq is getting better. Any general will confirm this.

You must be reading a different history book than the rest of us if you think Americans wanted to fight WWII before Pearl harbor and didn't want to after, or that Roosevelt was as unpopular as Bush. After being president for 12 years he won the election in 1944 with 54% of the vote and 432 to 99 electoral votes.
Bush's only hope is that historians will treat him like Truman who was as unpopular as Bush and was seen at the time as mis-managing the Korean war. How ever it took 40 years and his restoration was not due to Korea, but that he handled the post war reconstruction of Europe well.

They won their wars.

We have lost the war in Iraq as well as the war in Afghanistan.

Also all three of those men were good communicators and excelled at public speaking.

Bush is a poor communicator and doesn't care to persuade people. He figures he is the decider, and if you don't agree with him, he doesn't care.

Also the Civil War and World War II weren't based on a lie. There were actual reasons for those wars.

???

If Roosevelt were hated by most Americans, how do you explain his unprecedented 4 wins?

He was unpopular with a minority.

He WAS a great leader, and much loved.

Bush had to steal two elections to be in office, has proven himself a complete and utter disaster, and is almost universally hated by everyone in the entire world.

The only people who don't hate him are the brain-dead and those who support his policies of terrorism and illegality.

Things are looking up in Iraq. And Bush and his team are working very hard to ensure that the American people can feel proud of our efforts there, despite a the Nye Sayers and the main stream news.
