after reading the answers you have already, I felt the need to share some facts with you. racers have been known to chase a person. The same goes for the black mamba. if you pick up a rattlesnake head shortly after it's been decapitated, it still can bite you as well as the stump of the snake can track your movement and strike at you. this has happen many times in front of me. You can chop the head of a rattlesnake off, put the body in the freezer and three months later, pull the snake out,thaw it out and the heart will start to beat again. sunsets has nothing to do with snakes dying and snakes don't bite their tails and roll down hills a dead rattlesnake that has been dead for a short time and dried up can still envenomed you if you stab yourself by a fang, chances are the last thing the snake did was bite and that could have left residue of venom on the fang. last, don't ever cut and suck out the venom out of the person that just got bit for two reasons. 1. if you have the slightest cavity, ulcer or cut in your mouth, you are a victim as well 2. since a snakes fangs are curved back wards, most people cut well above the venom pocket and causing more trauma to the limb than the poison.
