When the teacher was in the papers there were no protests- yet after prayers on Friday ,thousands of people(including small children) were marching with knives , baying for blood- what did the preachers tell the people to do? Can they not think for themselves?

One finds it most frightening that a huge mass of people can be joined together in hatred of such a ludicrous event-the most heinous act was the inclusion of children...and where were the women?

Another offshoot of this is that it gives the far right more ammo against Muslims and black people in the UK .Hopefully "western" folk can see through this...

Errm, no they cant think for themselves!

Islam demands total obedience, so when someone sets himself up as an imam, a self appointed mouthpiece of god, the lumpen islamic masses simply follow his words like a herd of pigs.

One of the problems of islam, apart from its intolerance of criticism, revision and dissent, is that it has taken root among fairly backward and often violent bloodthirsty cultures, ie the arabs, pakistanis, afghans, chechens, kurds etc, and these people are less equipped or culturally inclined to question anything.

There is also a lot of jealousy and envy of the west, after all the most powerful countries in the world, be it in military, economic, political, scientific or cultural terms are ALL non muslim! And for a culture that purports to be the greatest thats a massive problem!

I agree with you but I think it's not as clear cut as that. When you're part of a different culture (and I don't mean Sudanese, I mean a particular group within the Sudan) you're locked into a certain mindset without realising it and it's completely natural and 'honourable' to think like this (they would think). It's a world apart from your own culture.
And have you asked yourself why you do some weird things such as maybe eat chicken, watch the boxing or clap? We're not so perfect, you and I.

The Sudanese Government has been happy to encourage antiWestern sentiment in part to resist efforts from the West to lecture Sudan about Darfur and deploy peacekeeping troops in the war-torn region.

Very cleverly put you make the bullets and let us fire them!

OK the answer is, that the Imams fired up those at prayer and told them that the infidel had insulted the prophet and gone unpunished.

Once they were all riled up sent them out onto the streets to demand justice in the name of Islam!

Children are taught to hate at a very early age.
Women do not (not allowed) join the men in prayer.

bukowski,
You have hit the nail on the head!!! You have nailed the nut!!!! You have, okay enough. Yes, they behave the way they do because they do not think for themselves. Is not that the problem with all cults? What thinking, rational person would strap explosives on themselves and go blow up innocent people? What thinking, rational people would want to kill somebody over the name of a stuffed animal? Sorry, I guess I am supposed to answer the questions not ask them.

Rioters were trucked in for the event. It was organized. It wasn't a spontaneous outpouring of piety. The extremist leaders planned it. And Friday prayers was a convenient time for a pep talk and gathering time.

It's a crowd mentality with them, when they gather together in large numbers they seem to lose control of reason. What's really disturbing is that they seem to be thoroughly enjoying themselves, screaming and demanding this women's life with huge grins on their faces. Executions? Well they make a great day out, that's entertainment, not to be missed.

Well obviously they told them islam is the most peaceful tolerant religion in the world and that allah alone would judge this infidel.

Or just maybe they started screaming their usual paranoid rants of 'insults to islam' and 'conspiracies' and they should peacefully defend to the death the right of every muslim to have everything their own way or else!
