OK so I bought a Gateway laptop with my graduation money on bestbuy.com and recieved it in June, in September the hard drive went out and I took it to the geek squad at the local best buy, they fixed it but about three weeks ago the hard drive went out again and best buy had to send it to gateway to be fixed( because they thought it was the motherboard) so anyway gateway has had my computer this whole time and i still havent got it back yet, I have complained to gateway about the product because this is the second time this happened and i think they should send me a new coputer since i havent even had this one for a year but they wont send me one and basically arent backing up their warranty.

what should i do? i'm a college student and cant afford to buy a new computer or have this kind of stuff keep happening. BTW, i am using someone else's desktop to ask this question so no stupid answers like "how are you asking this question when you don't have your computer?"

Call Customer service and politle but firmly demand to speak with somebody who can do more than read a script.
Gateway is a moderately reputable organization, and they are most likely right about it being the motherboard. You may have a clause in your warranty about turn-around time, but my guess is they buttoned that up pretty well.

They will work wth you, you just have to get past the first few layers of phone jockies...

Hi,
the goods the shop sold you were "Unfit for propose" so just ask for your money back, and "Kick some but" if they don't pay up, the shop where you brought the goods should sort this for you. hope this helps, Gateway have a really bad name as well.

Threaten them let gateway know that if they don't comply with your demands that you are ready to expose them via youtube. By allowing millions of fan know how gateway treat their customers. Tell them that your cousin works for You Tube and that your ready to make a professional video exposing gateway scams.

Was the laptop refurbished? Read your warranty and see what rights you have. You can complain to the better business bureau about your situation. Good luck!

I want you to read this guy's story and read what he did. Even though his beef was with Alienware this can be applied to any vendor that does not uphold their Warrenty
