The amount of pro athletes from these states are kind of disproportionate to their population. What's the secret out there? Is it the culture?

Football in Texas is HUGE! Some of the H.S. stadiums are larger than some colleges. Football is a religion in Texas and they provide all the universities here in Texas as well as 100's of other programs across the nation.

well ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, California and Texas all of these States have always had very strong football programs. some this year in the kirk herbstreit challenge, which is the top highschool teams in the country come to ohio and play the top schools there. ohio teams won 75% of those games and even ended a team from North Carolinas winning streak they had for a few years. i think it helps to have big college programs and nfl teams in the area of these states too. every one says ohio is small farm country but remember they are the 6th most populated state.

It's the culture. Just like North Carolina and Indiana natives are crazy about basketball. It's the same thing with Ohio, Texas, and Florida natives with Football.

You forgot to mention California. I don't know about Ohio, but in Florida, Texas, and California there are a lot of people, and the weather is good enough for everyone to be playing and getting better all year. And football is by far the biggest sport in these states. Just look at pictures of Lakeland High schools stadium and facilities and you'll see what I mean.

You forgot Pennsylvania. Anyway yeah I'd guess part is the culture. Go to Southwest PA and the people live football, that's where I grew up so can't really speak for most of the other parts, and look at the great names to come from the Pittsburgh area. Those great players grew up watching the Steelers and wanting to be one. I'm sure these other areas have these players they want to be.

Its because of the althetics programs at the universities in those states.
Iam from Ohio and I know for a fact that if OSU wasnt so damn serious about sports the NFL would be out half its players.

maybe because some of these athletes come from small town and they dream big in waiting to be someone one day... Usually when you aren't expose to the world you drive your self to be good so that you can achieve your goals... i don't know that's what i think
