I swear we can not have a political discussion without my parents bringing up the above fools. My parents come off as brainwashed but they think I am the one brainwashed...
I'm at my wits end...

Some people see the world differently. And some people are beyond being reasoned with. No matter what you tell them, they think America is God's gift to the world and we do no wrong and any criticism of America's policies is anti-American.
Remind them of a few things:
-the first amendment
-the fact that this country was founded on blood
-had institutionalized slavery for a hundred years
-has supported ruthless dictators throughout history (see Noreiga) and covertly invaded countries and helped to overthrow democratically elected regimes.
-is now fighting two never ending wars (terror, drugs)
-supported Saddam when it was in our interests
-help to fund bin Laden's rise to power in the Afghanistan-Russian war in the 80s
-spends more money on the military than the rest of the world combined but can't provide health care for its citizens
Just a few thoughts.
edit:
wow, a lot of right wingers answering your question. "Pay attention to what your parents say and you'll be a smarter person." lol, yea, O'Reilly and Rush are geniuses! lol. Don't listen to them, you have not been brainwashed. It is okay to think outside the box and question everything!

That sounds undesirable.. you should actually talk to someone about your violent relations. you're 16 now, can not you flow out? i'm no longer particular the way it somewhat works over the position you're yet the following contained in the united kingdom you may flow out even as your 16. in case you may not attempt this's no longer there any relations you would possibly want to bypass and stay with? sturdy success x

Your parents are right. You have been brainwashed. You wouldn't think that Rush and O'Reilley were fools unless someone had told you they were. Have you every listened closely to either of them? Pay attention to what your parents are telling you and you'll become a smarter person. They've been around politics longer than you have, have more experience and know what's going on in the world.. If you're truly intelligent you may come to the same conclusions when you're about 40, but you might as well take advantage of their knowledge while you're younger. It will put you head and shoulders above your contemporaries who have been telling you that they (Rush & Bill) are fools.

I feel so, so, so, sorry for you. I comend you for thinking for yourself b/c so many kids will share their parent's political views. ( I'm not saying you're a kid.) Good for you to think on your own! There is usually no changing the minds of a Republican. The best bet to keep peace in the family is to agree never to have political discussions.

Ask your parents for genuine communication. Tell your parents to listen to your point of view and at least consider what you have to say. Tell them that you don't appreciate them dismissing your point of view and calling you "brainwashed." Tell them exactly what you just told us.

Answer: Leave home now while you know everything.
Since you are so darned smart and know it all you really owe it to yourself to stop sponging off mom and dad, get out and get an arm load of job and support yourself.
About your wit....I'll wager IT is lonely.

It could be worse; they could be brainwashed by Keith Olbermann and Michael Moore.
>If you love your parents, avoid talking about politics. You don't have to agree with them, but you should love and respect them.
BTW. Brainwashing goes on with both sides. I got several thumbs down for referring to Olbermann and Moore, who are just as bad as O'Reilly and Limbaugh.

Unfortunately no. It is as the movie "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" where alien pods duplicated humans while they slept and took over their lives.
