Im 13 years old and I really like to design things like sigs, posters, etc. and i would really like to get paid for it since it takes up so much of my time :) also i think it would be good for my future because I'd like to be a graphic designer and if i got a job it would look good on my resume. (re-suh-may, not resume...idk how to spell it) I'd prefer part time since i still go to school. :) Thx in advance! :)

Probably not an actual job, since 13 year olds can't hold a job, by law.

The freelance idea may be your best bet, but getting into that end is extremely difficult and time consuming. A BIG part of a freelance designer's work is SALES. You'd have to find potential customers, somewhere. Besides my regular customers, I find new ones by running two or three direct mail campaigns, aimed at art directors and magazine and other publishing firms. If I'm lucky, about $100 worth of postage MAY get me one or two assignments.

You have to get creative about how to sell you talent. Frankly, I'm stumped on how a 13 year old will be able to, safely, go out and and sell her skills.

When I was your age, my dad would take me around to some local businesses where we'd talk people into buying signs, menus, funny sayings, etc. It was, mostly, my dad who did the "selling."

There are freelance sites such as getafreelancer.com, which is a good one. You set up a "company" i.e. describe yourself and what you can do, and you bid for freelance creative work such as logo design for websites and writing. If you are just starting bid low - when you have more of a portfolio and good feedback you can expect to earn more. And use your spellcheck! If you can spell you look more trustworthy. Good luck.
