My 13 month old woke up this morning with one eye that is puffy and just keeps producing eye goobers. It is not red or pink. She seems irritated by it but not mad or uncomfortable. Is the tear duct clogged? Is there anything I can to do try to get the tears moving again?

Take him to the doctor on this one. Quite often they sort themselves out themselves, but the eye is a delicate organ, and should the infection become worse it would do it quite quickly- its nothing something to fool around with.

1) Breastmilk -kills bacteria, viruses and fungi and is an anti-inflammatory
2) Saline drops -make your own. Boil water, cool and add enough salt so it is as salty as tears.
3) Plain boiled water just to clean the eye
4) Polysporin Eye drops antibiotic and used to treat pink eye, which most doctors won't even see you for anymore -at least where I live. However it doesn't sound like pink eye and you shouldn't use antibiotics unless there is an infection that the body isn't clearing on its own.

This eye goobers could also indicate an allergic reaction. However antihistamines are not advisable for children under at lest age 2. However if she starts showing other symptoms of an allergy (rash, hives, runny nose, etc) make sure she doesn't experience respiratory distress (extremely rate) and try to figure out the cause.

Hi try not to panic its very commen for babies to get mucky eyes, My daughter has just got over one and had antibioctic drops for near on 2 weeks which did not seem to help so i took her back to the docters who said that most eye infections are viral which is why antibioctics drops did not help, after stopping using the drops it cleared up in 24 hours.
As it is the weekend i would carry on bathing with cotten wool and sterile water sweeping it from the inner eye outwards( only use cotten wool ball once so for every wipe use new bit)
also take care to wash hand afterwards.
It is possible that it is a blocked tear duct and as someone else has advised i would also advise you massage the inner corner of her eye, hope it clears up soon xxx
p.s if no improvement by monday get your little one to docs just to be on safe side xxxxx

I would take to your pediatrician, but my 7 week old, had a blocked tear duct at 2 weeks, I massaged the inner corner of his eye and just wiped with warm water and it went away at about 5 weeks. Ask your doc, as he may have a little infection.

it could be a clogged tear duct! or could still be pink eye even though not pink/red! you should probably take her to the doctors or since it's Saturday, the hospital because thats highly contagious and you won't know for sure what she has unless you take her!!

She's ok, that feels like hypersensitive reactions. If theres a ton of gunk and its yellow its a chilly or an infection and could could be taken care of. yet they only look a touch puffy. in case you in basic terms observed her, she's possibly reacting to the transition, clutter replace, different enviroment, dirt and so on. you're able to get non-medicated saline CAT eyedrops from the petstore and supply her a pair of drops if her eyes get pink. it truly works truly nicely to scrub pollen and dirt out :)

I would just keep bathing her eye with cool water, and take her to the docs. It could be some sort of infection or she may have scratched her eye ball. Its best to get it checked and the doc may give you some drops for her.
