Cream. That was when he recorded the most and his best work too. The riffs, the blues-rock/psychedelic rocks, the licks--they were all fantastic. And it wasn't just Clapton too. The other members were pretty brilliant as well.

Cream, quite clearly. Blind Faith and Derek were too short-lived for a real assessment to be made. And Bluesbreakers was still a kind of unhoned Clapton. (Yardbirds too, I think.)

The only complicating factor is that the one Dominoes album that does exist - "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs" is (some would argue) the single best recording of Clapton's career.

But I would still balance that against the longer track record of Cream and the unique sound they forged together (the other two members were equally responsible for that, of course).

Definitely Cream, followed by Blind Faith.

In Cream, the combination of those three made outstanding rock & roll; and I think Clapton was more experimental and outside.

Another trick/pick question. I don't have a favorite, I love it all. PBS had Creams reunion at Royal Alberts Hall from 05 last nite. Ginger looked like my grandaddy, LOL..and John was arockin that bass and harmonica.

Derek & The Dominoes for 1 reason: Layla.

Cream were brilliant and boring.

No question, Cream. They were one of the premier bands of their age and most of their music still holds up. You can't say that about the other bands.
