In our highschool it is ok to have an "asian club" or "black club" in which only members of that race are allowed in it. However if there was a white club all hell would break loose. I think these sort of clubs shouldn't be allowed and are just further seperating the different races in our school. What do you think?

When black and asian people steal the white mans land, take his resources, enslaves him and generally just behave like assholes for a couple of hundred years, maybe you can get a club celebrating what is left of your culture too.

i think those clubs are made to celebrate asian and black culture, i doubt anyone with the wish to participate positively would be barred entrance.

why would you need a white club??
the white culture is the mainstream culture. it´s all around you. while black and asian mainstream culture is reduced to hip hop and spring rolls. let them try to preserve the culture they have left. and as i said i doubt you would be barred entrance.

Clubs like this came into existence because people of different races weren't allowed in the other clubs. The mentality was "Well, if they won't let us in their club, we will form our own." This is also why there are black fraternities and sororities. There may not be a need for such clubs anymore. It just depends on the environment concerning minorities at the school. In my school we had a human relations club which talked about diversity which seemed to serve the bill. Any person could join this club

Well in my high school we had mostly white kids so we didn't have race based clubs but personally, I don't think there should be race based clubs. I am not against a heritage or geneaology club where students of all races and backgrounds can peacefully study and show pride toward their heritages but to me a "black club" or an "Asian club" is the same as making a "white club" or starting a chapter of the KKK or something.

you could make a white club. the only reason why it's controversial is because the kkk comes to mind. But the high school that i went to, there were all types of clubs. Anyone could join, just to learn about the culture. I guess you could call it a "Caucasian Club" as opposed to "Asian Club" or "Black Club." People from all different cultures joined the clubs because their friends did. If your student body is making clubs and excluding, that's not cool. I remember the Chinese Club at my school, there were people from every culture there, just because it has that name on it doesn't mean those are the only people allowed.

to those who say these clubs shouldn't be allowed, your terrible. These clubs are meant to teach others about their culture and therefore doing the exact opposite of what you think they do. They are not segregating groups, it's a support group and a learning group for people. Attend one of a different culture, you'll see that it's not a segregation thing and you'll learn an appreciation for other peoples' culture.

At my school, we had Culture night and all of the clubs would present their culture (guess what!!! we had some clubs that were meant to be white), i watched some of them and i learned about other cultures, and guess what, there was not segregation, maybe it's because i live in a very diverse community, i don't know. You people make them seem segregated because you segregate yourselves from them, interact and you'll understand what i mean. Have an open mind and don't assume everything is racist, you can't live in the world and be a good member of society if you think that way.

It's not the case that ONLY people of a certain race can be allowed into a certain club at school, because that would be ILLEGAL. BUT it IS the case that some clubs and organizations are GEARED TOWARD a certain ethnic or racial group. They can NOT turn someone away from their club based solely on their race.

I don't think it's racist, since asians and blacks are still minorities. It's harder to find a community where you can share your cultural roots and discuss things only the 'insiders' can understand. I'd really be glad if my school had a 'jewish club' or a 'russian club' or whatever.
Although, your right, it's a little bit unfair that it would be politically incorrect to found a 'white club'. The thing is, such clubs often escalate, since their backhold within society is much stronger than those of blacks or asians.

Why have a race club when you can just hang out with your people everyday? It makes more sense to have a "Culture Club" and let people celebrate different cultures. Americans need something like that.

That's very racist! Its almost like the movie "WHITE CHICKS"
now if they made a movie called Black Girls and made fun of how black girls act excatly as you said all hell would break loose and they would be mad people crying racist even though in the "White Chicks" movie white girls got made fun of and nothing was said about that people just found it funny. Or when a black person says the word n199er or n199a as oppose to a white person saying the same thing, a whiter person would take so much crap then the black person would, Thats just how the world seems to be right for some and wrong for others..its not right but thats how it is: (

It's called positive discrimination. There are many reasons for it not least of them being that the rest of society could be seen as the 'white club'

Having said that, I still don't think it's such a hot idea. It's just a band-aid solution to a much deeper problem.
