Yes, Lake Jackson has "Lighting of the Lights" . All day festival, crafts, food, entertainment, carnival, fake snow slides for the kids, during the day. At night Christmas Trees Made of lights or lit all over the town area, stores lit and decorated as well. Then there is a parade, and bands/dancing afterward. it is a beautiful sight, and so much fun for all. The Christmas trees range in sizes and go for miles.
I also like to go about 12 miles to Churchill on the San Benard River, the have a parade of decorated boats, I go to a friends house on the river sit by a fire and watch. They can get really creative with their decorations.
I love the Holiday season and this makes it that more special.
Wonderful question.

Our little town in Central California kicks off Christmas the first Thursday after Thanksgiving. The fire department gets names from teachers at local schools of the most needy kids. They put a ordainments on a big tree with the age and sex of the children. We pick as many as we want to give to, usually 2-3. Then we buy and wrap the gift and return them to the fire department to deliver on Christmas Eve,
All the stores stay open until 9:00PM every Thursday until Christmas, Most merchants offer the gifts of hot cider, cookies, sandwiches, fudge, etc
There are free carriage rides for anyone interested. And free photos with Santa.
We always see our friends there caroling, warming their hands over fires in cans and just walking around. I look forward to this yearly event more than any other celebration our town puts on.
This Friday night is the Christmas parade for anyone that wants to enter, it's free, too!

Sounds beautiful. I live in a small town in the mountains of northeastern Pennsylvania. Every year there is a celebration, Christmas in our Hometown. There are ice carvings, the movie house has free admission, merchants move their wares out on to the side walk and there are rides in a horse drawn carriage. It is all very nice and quaint.
