It seems like quite a few people feel that eating out is something of a special occasion, or something to do to treat yourself. Something that is only done maybe once or twice a month. To me, it is very different. My husband and I travel a lot, and are only home once or twice a month. We eat out as often as we stay in hotels, which is around 350 days a year. We usually eat meals at restaurants, but we do occasionally do the fast food thing. For me, I have found that I am left wanting more after eating out. Unfortunately, I am not referring to the portions of the food. I am talking about something much more. Home cooking, to me, is much more than just following a recipe, even if that's all you do. Each time you cook, you decide if you want more or less of a certain flavor, or maybe there's a special something you can add to make a bit of difference. No matter what you do, you always think about what you are cooking and how those eating it will react. Every time I eat a home cooked meal, whether it be made by a friend, family, or my husband, I am so thankful for the time and thought that is put into preparing it. I love and cherish every opportunity I get to prepare a meal for family or friends. Those times are really my special occasions.

I work at a restaurant most days and it is part of my wage to get a free meal. But as a couple we go out at least once on the weekend. There is a family restaurant across the street with good home cooking and reasonable prices.

In an actual sit down restaurant, not on the fly and just grabbing something quick and cheap to fill the hole in your stomach? Maybe once a year if that. Cant afford it and I usually leave thinking I could have cooked it better and saved the money.

As little as possible. Since I gave up using salt at home, most restaurant food tastes terrible. But, the organizations I belong to have their monthly meetings at restaurants, so I have to sometimes. To get around the salt issue, I order a salad if I can.

As a couple, maybe twice a month. Since my husband works into the evening, very often I'll grab a sub or something like that if I happen to be out. Hate cooking for just myself!

Most weeks at least once. Hubby likes for me not to have to cleanup. We have adult children and grands living with us so he takes me to escape. I personally would not spend the money but he loves to treat me. More often when children from out of town visit we all meet at a restaurant since there are so many of us. This is usually oce every 3 months and on birthdays hubby treats the person and rest of family to meal of the honorees selection. We spend too much on dining out in my opinion.

Probably once every 6 weeks or so. No fast food except for Subway veggie sandwich. Can't STAND McDonald's crap. Oh yes,(heh heh) I do admit to occasionally eating a 7-11 jumbo hot dog or some pizza. Hey, no ones perfect!
