1: A zoo vet has the same role as a regular domestic animal vet. To care for animals. The only difference is the types of animals that they treat.

2: People tend to forget that it takes more than just keepers and vets to run a zoo. There is marketing, finance, developement, design, IT, maintenance, security, education... the list really goes on and on. Try checking out aza.org they always have job postings up for zoos and it might give you a better idea of what is out there.

3: For most vet degrees it is a 4 year plan though I have seen some tech postions that are a 2 year degree and I have seen some programs go as high as 6 years. It really depends on exactly what you end up with. Some zoos will also require intern time as well as a degree. The best thing is to look at various collegs you are interested in, most of them have their course study listed on line or you can get an advisor to mail you info.

4: It is more or less a place for people to learn about various conservation efforts around the world, ways they can help and just general info about animals. For example you might have a conservation area by a rain forest exhibit that would include info about the different animals that live there, the problems that are going on in the rain forest and ways people can help.
