Heed the advice about the silent killer.
We nearly lost one of our children and the friends they were staying with.
A plastic bag under the Mobile Home, is what clogged the vent.To all my friends who live in Mobile Homes-especially if you rent, check the area around the tank valves and lines(propane) that nothing blocks them.
Don't forget about that vehicle too especially if you keep getting a headache when you are in the turned on vehicle.
Please keep those fancy cigarette lighters away from children too! Thanks

Such good advice. Several years ago we had some problems with our furnace and needed to call a repairman to come out. He took a reading and told us that we were lucky to still be alive. The carbon monoxide levels were extremely high. At the time I was a smoker and would leave windows open no matter what the weather. That probably saved our lives. Since then we have replaced that old furnace and have installed carbon monoxide detectors. We did experience a few symptoms but thought we were getting the flu.

AS long as I am in my house, trust me, it is not safe! It isn't the Carbon Monoxide that is dangerous here, it is the Carbon life form...me! I can walk down a hall, and I swear, Pictures fall off the wall! Tables, at night, mysteriously move themselves into my path! And we won't even talk about chairs that have a life of their own. Sometimes it does not pay to get up at night to go to the bathroom..I swear, it would be easeir to clean up the bed than clean up the mess in my trail! Hmmmm I will have to think this one through. Merry Christmas, Phil

We have 2 smoke detectors and we have our gas heating system serviced every year. It can be expensive to have it checked every year but it is an expense we are happy to pay because carbon monoxide poisoning can kill an entire family while they sleep. If you don't have your heating system serviced every year there are symptoms to look out for.....do you suffer from thumping headaches whilst you are at home but they go when you are away from your home, or do you have a runny nose at home but not away, do you feel sleepy at home especially if you have your gas fire on? These are all early symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Thanks for the reminder. Even though the furnace is new ,I was going to get a carbon monoxide detector before this winter. Now it is on my list again.

I have carbon detectors and air purifiers with filters, that have names I cannot spell. Just to name a few precautions around here.

I guess it is. My friend called me the other night and I was in bed and she told me cars were being broke into. When I went to my car the next morning the keys were in it and 10.00 over the sun visor. (I guess I thought they may need gas $)!!
