Just had my son 9 weeks ago. I have lost 30 lbs so far from giving birth and breastfeeding. Not really eating that healthy or exercising. So i have that extra 30 lbs just sitting on me and IT NEEDS TO COME OFF! I have NEVER been this heavy but under the circumstances I indulged in food ... for the baby of course LOL!
I have used a treadmill for about 5 yrs now to maintain a healthy weight and just to be in shape.
The belt is shredding now so I am wondering, should I purchase a new more upgraded treadmill OR try an eliptical and have a total body work out?
I only want to spend max of 300. I know i can get a good treadmill for that price but can i get a good eliptical? I am not sure since i have never stepped foot on one.
Please help! I want to lose 30 lbs! I did start eating healthy but cant really diet due to breastfeeding. So the equipments i use has to be good! ADVISE ANYONE?

A good eliptical is likely to cost a bit more. My mom had a cheaper one and it was LOUD! Maybe you can just look into perhaps getting a new belt for the treadmill you have. And I have to agree with a previous answerer: taking a walk with the baby is a GREAT way to lose some of the weight. But if its cold where you are, that might not be the best idea.

I would do eliptical just cause the treadmill gets a little boring for me sometimes. If you want to change it up a bit, go out for walks at your local park, take your baby with you and walk for 30 min- to an hour. You'll be amazed at the results. It's a good thing that you've changed your eating habits cause that counts a lot in losing weight. Good luck!

I would say an eliptical because the hormones that cause your joints to relax during pregnancy can continue to effect you up to 9 months after you delivery. So low impact is better.
Also you can diet while breastfeeding you just have to be reasonable. Weight Watchers has a program for nursing mothers and is one of the most effective weight loss programs.
Can I diet while breastfeeding?

I lost weight very quickly by putting my daughter in a sling and going for a good long walk every afternoon. It really helps with that late afternoon fussiness, too! I used a wrap-style sling, zipped my coat up over both of us, and put a cap on the baby's head.

Better idea: spend the $300 on a few slings/wraps/mei tais, strap your baby on, and go for a walk every day. So much nicer than fussing with something that looks so much like actual work. And so nice for your baby.
(Depending on where you live, maybe allocate some of that $300 to an x-large winter coat that goes over baby too...)
