When I was younger, for whatever weird reason I had, I thought that my name was too girly and that it was hardly professional or cool. Now that I'm older, I'm comfortable with my name and apparently a lot of other people like it, too! At the mall, there must have been at least six different times when I heard someone say "Emily!" and I turn around to see a little girl being waved over.

While I completely dislike my given name, it's actually hard to imagine actually being called something else (much as I'd prefer it LOL). But I suppose I could say Anne -- since it is my (stereotypical filler) middle name, so it still feels like "mine." The nickname Annie would fit as well, I think. ;)

I'd have loved to have a more interesting, classic name, however. Something like Georgia, Mary or Moira -- after my grandparents ;) --Penelope, Gwyneth, Isla, Niamh, Daphne or Ruby could have easily suited my taste and personality type. ;) Shame I didn't get a say in that! LOL

I had the opportunity to legally change my name when I got married, but because I haven't ever really thought what I would change it to, I just left it. I go by my middle name instead.

But names I love and would possibly have used -
Jayce or Jaci or Jacy (JAY-see ... my grandparents initials, they raised me)
Chantal (sean-tall ... just love the name)
Crystal (kris-tall ... again, love it)
Mia

BUT - I don't know that I would ever honestly change it.
#1 - I've had it for over 30 yrs (trying to get people to call me something new at this point would seem silly)
#2 - I'm happy using my middle name
#3 - as much as I dislike my first name, my mother gave it to me because she really liked it. Whether or not I like it, it would probably hurt her feelings if I change it.

Great Q - thanks for asking!

hmm.. That really is a hard question for me. I guess I really would not change my name I would have my boyfriend pick out a name for me to change it to if he saw fit. He likes my name though so I guess I would just keep my name as it is.

My name is fine. It's my middle name I hate and it is meaningless to boot. I will be changing that legally when I marry to Maya (my Mom's original name).

oooh thats hard.
I like my name Sam. (no its not short for samantha, its short for samann)

But I love the names
-Katlyn
-Ella
-Natasha

but none of those names seem to fit me.
but I would like to change my name to just Sam.
that way, no one would call me by my real name
