The Yankees.
1927 -- Ruth, Gehrig and company.
1961 -- Mantle, Maris and company
1998 -- Bernie Williams, Derek Jeter and company.
Take your pick.
The 1929-31 Philadelphia Athletics are a good choice for # 4

It's always a toss up for me between the 1927 and 1998 Yanks. I was able to see the 1998 Yanks compared to only being able to read about the 1927 team. The 1927 team had more power in the lineup and quite a good rotation with Hoyt, Pennock, and Shocker. Then there was the reliever Wilcy Moore with a 19-7 record.
The 1998 team had more of a finesse type lineup with less power, but just like in 1927, the pieces all fit together perfectly.
I have to give the slightest edge to the 1927 team because of the Ruth-Gehrig combo.
Regardless, these two teams were the greatest World Series teams ever assembled and quite possibly in all of baseball.

The 1927 Yankees are considered by most to be the greatest team ever .But there is a good case to be made by the Big Red Machine of Cincinnati.A team with Rose,Bench,Perez,Griffey,Concepcion andFoster is hard to argue with.My personal favorite is the 1929-1931 Philadelhia A's with Foxx,Simmons,Cochran, and Lefty Grove. But over all it's got to be the 1927 Yankees.

1927 Yankees.
Babe Ruth hit more home runs than some entire teams. Gehrig was 2nd in all of baseball, behind Ruth. Ruth set the HR record and Gehrig set the RBI record that season.

1906 Chicago Cubs...
Tinker to Evers to Chance vintage..
They went 116-36....that's 80 games over .500.
Imagine the Yankees going 41-41 the first 82 games...then winning every game the rest of the way...80 games over .500
Scored their opponents by 324 runs...more than 2 runs a game average game score .....4.6 to 2.4...almost double...
They led the league in batting avg, runs, ERA and fielding....
The single most dominant team ever.

My fantasy team.
I've won the league over the course of the regular season every year and then I lose in the tournament, in the championship game ever year.
*sigh*
I'm totally the Atlanta Braves of the '90s
