Dont know about proud -I just am.
I think words like 'proud' tend to be used when defending against a 'superiority' attack by a toffee-nosed snob who likes to think he can look down on working class folk, for instance.

yes very proud to be working class, i was brought up to appreciate everything i've been given, family values etc..... my grandad taught us how education was important, as that was the way you got on in life plus i think my family is very strong because of how we were brought up, we may not see each other all the time but when we're altogether it's like we've never been apart.

I am what I am as the song goes.
I'm at ease with being working class as I don't know anything different. We make the most of what we've got and do the best we can.
