It seems to me he is directing the team while also maintaining his primary responsibility which is to run with the ball.

So..why do you need a coach?

Training, play coordination, the defense.

All a quarterback does is call the plays given to him on offense. He does not train the other players. He does not make sure the team is ready for the game. He doesn't even make up the plays. He is just one more piece in the game and the coach tells them all what to do.

The Coach manages the entire team "from the sideline"; and manages the other subordinate coaches. The QB takes direction from the Coach and does the actually playing on the field and directs the team on the field.

The coach calls the plays in he's the Mysto directing the orchestra. He also helps during practice what to work on. yes you have QB coache as well as a head coach but communication off the field is a big part of winning games.

To determine what are the best plays to run during a game...The players just execute the plays for the coach...They don't come up with strategy...

The play always starts through the QB...There is a running back that runs the ball...Sometime a QB runs, but not all the time...and it is not the norm for a QB to be the primary runner...

Coach is the one who calls the plays
Coaches guide the team, teach them strategies, improves all the players, just because there is a QB doesnt mean the team will do good without a coach, look at Brady and Bellichick he has improved under him.

One can always get different points of views even if the coach is a complete clutes. He may have discovered how not to do things the best. It is about the additude relating to ones failures as well as one successes. One is constantly learning.

The coach calls the plays from the sideline and gets input from the other coaches in the booth who can see all the action.

Cause there is offense... Running backs.. fullbacks.. lineman... WR ...defense... Def Line.. linebackers.. corner backs... safety's. special teams ... punting team..... field goal teams... A quarterback can't run a whole team... a football team needs many coaches and one head coach so there won't be conflict with the team
