After the Ashley Tisdale mishap, my friends and I begin to wonder when did lip-syncing actually start.
She says with Milli Vanilli but I think it was much earlier...

Milli Vanilli was the first group to get caught but back in the 50's and 60's they would use pretty girls on stage but it was other peoples music and voice

It was alot earlier. If you've ever seen old performances on some of these old musical shows that were on in the 60s and 70s, you'll see many many artists lip-syncing their songs.
