I really think there are some good keyboards that will teach you. However unless it is a family purchase they are kind of pricey for a child.

Yahmaha makes a few good ones.

I've had a PSR-190 for about 8 years, I really get on with it, it was my second ever keyboard. It's sounds aren't very realistic, but it;s quite big (I've had to bring it to my lessons on occasions because my teacher's keyboard isn't big enough) and it has a nice little function where it plays songs, but you can press a button to cut the melody out, so you can play the melody yourself.

just get her a basic casino keyboard they come with instructions and easy to follow notes for her try try ....
