At your age, a lot of it is probably hormonal, since puberty can have odd effects on the body. I would strongly advise against doing any kind of dieting, since you suggest that it is just a little bit, not an extra 50 or 100 poulds that you need to lose. Step up your exercise - turning the fat into muscle, which because it weighs more won't change your weight but will make you look slimmer, would be your best bet. Make sure that you are engaged in active pursuits every day - from walking to bike-riding to swimming. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Make sure that every so often you get up and take a break from your homework and computer usage by doing something active (I have a job which makes me sit a lot, but I try to get up every hour and walk around the building, or I take any excuse to bring things somewhere, rather than saving it all up and doing it all in one trip).

I have a foster daughter your age and she is obese (she was when she came here). We are now working on her losing weight and getting healthier.
Somethings that truly help her (and she has lost 35 lbs so far) is:
Walking at least 30 mins each day
Swimming, biking, hiking
Going up and down stairs instead of taking an elevator
Cutting portion sizes by about 1/4 (instead of 1 cup of rice, you would get 3/4 cup). This way you eat less but not so much that you feel hungry all the time.
Cut down on bread products and rice.
and last but not least
Pick activities that get you physically moving but that you like!
Best of luck and have a Very Merry Christmas! :-))

You're 14, you're still growing. Any day now you're going to shoot up a little bit more and discover that while you're stretching up it's making that "pudge" look more proportioned. Just eat sensibly and healthy while getting sufficient excercise and enjoy being 14!

i used to be in the same boat.if you have the cash go see a dietitian. they can analyse your diet and set you straight in regards to what you should/should not be eating. the easy thing to remember is this; if you expend more energy (exersize) than you intake (food) you will lose fat (weight). a sensible eating regime based primarily on vegetable matter and exersize will do you good. be careful and eat lots of spinich and greens/lean red meat to make sure your iron levels are retained. a session with a personal trainer might help you with a regime that might accomodate your lifestyle and work/study commitments. good luck!

Eat nutritious foods, limit sweets, and be more physically active. Keep in mind that some of this extra weight could be due to hormonal changes, as you grow and develop. Don't get too carried away about this; some of it might clear up as you mature.

Well. it's normal to have some fat. We need it to stretch to have a baby later. But if you feel it is extra that you need to get rid of, you could always do some sit-ups and cruntches and or any other abdominal excersizes and a healthy diet is always good.

Excercise, and cut back on portion sizes. You can follow any fad diet that you want, but losing weight always comes down to one thing: use more calories than you take in.

Hi,
I'm exactly at your age and I have kind of your problem...
But when I consulted with my counselor, she said never worry...
You're at the age of puberty and have to eat a lot... if you're now fat, just exercise, and never take pills or diet. So don't worry, when you grow up and become an adult you'll be thiner...
Be happy!
