MY GOODNESS !!! What great technicians they are who can't advise you how to get your files off the hard drive before you reinstall the OS.

All you need do is hook up the drive as a slave and copy your files to another media. After you have safely retrieved your files, then have them reinstall the OS.

Good Luck

My guess is that area of the motherboard that has died. If the pc is that considerable to then you definitely purchase a 64GB micro flashdrive. positioned the flashpersistent interior the USB port and set up linux on there. it is going to artwork in case you do it applicable via fact I fixed a working laptop or pc with that. i improve into brief on no longer effortless drives and that i had a USB 2.0 interior the pc so i used a flashdrive. I build computers and fix computers and if I have been to recieve something like that i might basically use it for areas. ~sturdy success

One way I would use is to get an adapter, laptop to desktop cable, set the desktop HD as master, the laptop as Slave, and copy my files to the desktops harddrive, then burn to a disk. Wipe the files from the desktops drive when finished.( I tend to do thing's the hardway, as I use what's layin' around, you can also use a external USB laptop case!)

you can hook it up in another PC & use it as slave & you can copy your files. you can also boot from c using puppy linux or any linux live cd. you can then save all your files to any external hard drive or flash disk.
