I am 18, 33weeks pregnant with my first, a boy.
I know I am very far along and the baby wont move so much because he can't, but he normal is very VERY active. Today he hasn't moved much.
Am I just over worrying or is something wrong? I don't have another midwife appointment for 9days.
I am just worried because he isn't moving very much, and the movements he has done were so small and only just notisable.
Like I said I know being so very he isn't ment to move very much, but he has ALWAYS been VERY active and he isn't today it is weird.

Drink a can of coca cola and lay quietly on your left side. Maybe play some music for the baby. This should get him to move more and become more noticable to you...since you will be more focused on his movements. If he doesn't start moving more then I would contact your midwife and see what she says. A big drop in movement can be a warning sign that there is something wrong but it's usually just that you haven't been noticing it.
Believe me- they will not think you are going overboard if you go in today or even just call! YOU are the mother and should know what is expected. I listened to my doctor when they said that lack of movement was normal, I listened to her when she said my baby was in no danger from the umbilical cord being wrapped around her neck...and I listened to her tell me that I lost my baby at 36 weeks. Don't make the same mistake I did. Go get checked out and see what's up.

As long as you are feeling some movement, thats a good sign. The general rule of thumb is 10 kicks in an hour. Lay on your left side and do a "kick" count. Just like anyone else, babies in utero will have "lazy" days. I'm 34 weeks and have noticed that for the past couple of weeks, the baby's movements have become stronger, but less frequent. Its never wrong to call your doc or midwife if you are concerned, though. Better safe than sorry. Good Luck, not much longer...

Totally normal. My baby moved constantly, I always wondered if he ever slept because he moved so much. Once I got to about 31-32 weeks, the movement slowed down. I got an ultrasound at 32 weeks and the poor thing is so squished. I'm surprised he can move at all. I'm 34 weeks now and he hardly moves. No more room. If you are really concerned, drink a glass of ice water or orange juice, then lay down for awhile. You'll feel him. Or you can get an icecube and rub it on your belly while your lying down, that will get him moving too. Goodluck and congrats
Oh btw, I wouldn't do the fetal kick count. Mainly because all babies are different and not all babies move or kick 10 times in one hour. But if you are going to do it, you only check twice a day (not every hour can you imagine sitting there every hour trying to count every movement?). You pick two different times of the day when you always notice your baby is most active and then count. But if your baby only moves 6 times in one hour, dont panic. Oh and my doctor said the time when yo ushould go in or call, is if you have not felt the baby move for 6 hours.

You know your baby and body better than anyone. If it is worrying you, go to the hospital. Don't listen to everyone telling you that the baby is getting bigger and you will not notice it as much. The baby will grow and there will be less room, but it will not happen instantly, it will gradually happen.
I went to the hospital at 33 wks because the baby hadn't had any movements in more than 6 hrs. The nurse bascially told me I was just over reacting, but my Dr didn't agree. Your instinct is more important than what some nurse may tell you. They are there to help you, if you feel something is wrong, let them check things out. It will make you feel more relaxed.

start a kick count. Count how many times he kicks, and if it's too low (I think under 10) call your midwife. I would actually go ahead and call the midwife now, and just say that you are concerned about the lack of movement, and should you start to count kicks... she will give you details on how to best do that, and when to call her. It's also possible that by telling her that, she'll want you to come in. When you call, ask to speak to a nurse, and tell the nurse what is going on. The nurse will probably talk to the midwife and call you back. Good luck!

What you can do to ease your mind is to drink a tall glass of very cold juice (or water). Then lay down on your back and be still... your baby will likely kick it up a notch and then you'll know all is ok. If you don't feel anything at all, don't hesitate to contact your midwife. Trust your instincts and keep us posted!

his activity is going to start slowing down. if you're concerned, drink something with lots of sugar or caffiene. lay down for about an hour. if he's active, he's fine (i'm thinking my midwife told me 10 movements in that hour). just might be a lazy day for him. we all have those.
if you are concerned, you can always call your midwife. she's there to help you and answer your questions.

if you are too worried call your dr but as long as he or she is moving t least 10 times a day you should be fine. also your baby could be sleeping while you are awake and moving around when you are asleep and just do not no it. thet can give you a non stress test to make sure he/she is moving enough and maybe you just can not feel it.

He could be sleeping, and not moving much. Lay down on the couch and keep track of his movements - he may be moving more than you think, but because you are occupied with other things, you are not noticing.
