i do believe that the white house should decorate. but why so many trees and decorations that are made of food? all of this could go to the shelters. it cost so much out of the american pockets to do this. when my kids and i had no christmas i would see the stuff they used in the white house and cry knowing that i couldn't do that for my kids. there are a lot of families out in this world that are homeless and no way of haveing a christmas. i just wanted to know if any one else felt the way i do.

They should apply that money towards the National Debt.

I agree with what your saying. I mean the White House should always have Christmas decorations up at Christmas time, yet should also maybe cut back in a few areas. Then with the money they save give it to feeding the poor or for buying clothing and food for children or even some Christmas gifts. That would be a really good way to help out the nation and its people. =)

LOL!! Funny question! I think the white house should ask for donations, in order to decorate for Christmas. They're so much in debt, they need to save the money and rethink the budget.
All those countries where we sent soldiers to fight for, and now are ungrateful should donate to the White House now. I think there should be volunteers working to decorate the white house. But then I wonder how would it look... hmmm Interesting Q!

Yes, the donation of what little money the Christmas lights will cost will make a huge impact on the global economy scheme that it definitely should be donated so that a long standing American tradition can go by the way-side by yet another idiotic liberal appeal.

Edit: Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but that wouldn't be a solution to the bigger problem.

Ask a Brit about the decorations at Buckingham Palace.

They should do both. Nothing is wrong with Decorations at all - I have no problem with it. But making a charitable donations to families in need around D.C. would be a good idea.

But if they didn't do something for /everyone/ then some people might complain and argue about it. So I think that is why they only decorate their own House.

Absolutely ! It should be decorated, and nicely. It is the symbol of our country and even though we have problems here, there is no country that doesn't have their own too.In this case, not decorating would be sending a wrong message to the world, that we couldn't afford it?Since Christmas is the culmination of Christan principles and that includes the way we celebrate it, it would just be wrong not too.

Decorate. The White House and the President and First Lady represent the United States of America to those dignitaries and officials visiting around the world. As such, they need to support and decorate during our holidays.

even though lots of people are hungry and poor, i think the white house should still decorate the place. why?of course, for the whole country to feel christmas. the country's a christian country, so why not feel the spirit of xmas in the wyt house?

I think they should decorate the white house on their own {without paying people do so}, and they should still donate money since they can sure afford to do so.
