Hi Ive been on the Depo Jag for over thre years and I;m thinking of coming off it, not to get pregnant but because I think it may be bad for me. Ive been Ill almost the whole time Ive been on it and also put on a lot of weight and been very depressed. The only thing I can link it all to is the depo. Doctors say they arent aware of any side effects, does anyone have any similar experiences and or advice? Any thought wuld be appreciated. Thanks xx

there are definitely documented side effects. weight gain of 5-8 pounds a year has been reported in at least one long term study of the use of depo provera. bone mineral loss is another one that has been seen in a small percentage of women.

I have been on depo since 1996, and it does have some effects. but for me, even though I have gained weight, the benefits outweigh the side effects. I have severe endometriosis, and when I don't get my shot on time, I spot and get cramps.

note that when you get off the shot, it may be several months before your period returns to normal.

The doctors you talk to are stupid. Sorry but its true.

There are horrendous amounts of negative experiences on depo provera, I'm one of them. I was on it for a long time with those same side affects. I am now OFF of it and a LOT healthier!

Please look at those reviews for the depo shot and PLEASE find another form of contraceptive.
