You figure the tree you going to purchase is already cut down. It doesn't matter if you buy it today or 3 weeks from now. Just make sure you keep it watered regularly.

2 weeks before Christmas, when you go pick it out make sure you tug on the evergreen branch to see how easy their needles come off. Put your fingers around a part of the branch and with pressure pull your hand to you to see how many of the needles come off in your hands. They shouldn't come off real easy if they do its an old tree. When you pick up the tree re-saw about 1 or 2 inches off the bottom before you put it in the tree base and give it water. Use some prolong or tree additive to add to your water to prolong it's life, and check it each day and night. Use of mimi lights and smaller ornamental lights will stay cooler. Good Luck! Have a Very Merry Christmas and may it be filled with Health Happiness and wealth remember to pray for our troops and light a candle for those who can't be with us.

I used to plant replant and whatever else u do with trees a yr ago i workt at a nursery. if you want your tree to actually be "living" as u call it then you would have to figure out a way to dig up the whole thing (roots n all) n keep and water it in ur house and thats hardly practical unless you have a huge house! but if you want ur tree to look nice on Christmas minus the work of dragging in the roots and dirt then go out a cuple days before and bring it in and find a way for it to absorb water(water it) and u should have a nice tree for awhile

we used to have a live tree every year. we would buy it about a month before christmas and had a stant that was real sturdy and held plentry of water and we put a little sugar in it -about 1/2 cup. as long as you keep watering it it will stay fresh for a couple of months. one year we went to a nusery and baught one with the roots on it and after the holidays we planted it outside and it's still growing -it's about 60 feet tall.

I got an e-mail from better homes and gardens this week and they say you can get one now. They suggest you get a bucket that holds the tree stand and five gallons of water. Trim the bottom of the tree when you bring it home. Keep the bucket full and it should be green through out the season.

We always get our about 2 weeks before Christmas, so this year thet would be about the 11th. Then spray it will Wilt Proof. That like sticks all the little needles together and helps them not fall off as quickly. I also heard that hairspray works too but I don't know if it's true.

Try the middle of next week, maybe like the 12th. As long as you have one of the stands and water it every day, it'll be good for Christmas.
