When we consider very very large numbers, we can think of them in two ways.
First, just as a derived number or put another way 'whatever large number we think of.' Back in 1938 a 9 year old kid invented googal which is 10^100 and then googalplex which is 10 to the power of googal.
No doubt that was pretty impressive in the playground but of course you can always invent googal plus 1.
As numbers get larger and larger we say they approach infinity but it is important to remember that infinity is not a number.
Then we can think of large numbers that come about though some mathematical proposition or theory. In this context the largest number in the world is called Graham's number.
Graham's number is so large that it cannot be expressed using conventional power notation. It has been said that if all the material in the world were turned to ink then there would not be enough ink to write the number down in a conventional way!.
Graham's number was derived by R.L. Graham when he was studying something called Ramsey theory in an area of maths called combinatorics. A special notation has been invented to write the number. It is listed in the Guinness Book of records as an upper bound

Say N is biggest number. Let's try and prove:
let M = N + 1
M > N
Therefore N is not biggest number.
Therefore there is no biggest number.

O this one is hard. But for the guy above me who said googleplex is the largest WRITTEN answer, im afraid that is wrong, as issac asimov proved that
"if one reduces the units of the number googleplex to the size of an atom each, it would fill up some thousand times the size of the milky way and beyond.."

well if you wanna know, there's no biggest number
I mean, there's probably a biggest number that someone used (for example, the number of atoms in a huge building) but I don't think you have a biggest number.

the numbers are infinite but the biggest number ever written and named is googolplex which is 1 with a googol(1 with 100 zeros in front of it) zeros in front of it
