Yes...I think it has everything to do with your small frame. You're so lucky to feel the baby so soon! I had to wait until around 20 weeks to feel either of my babies.

Don't you just love it?? At first, I think it feels like popcorn popping. And then the movements get strong enough so you can SEE your belly moving around...I love that, too. When I went to the hospital the other day (a whole nuther story), my baby actually kicked the nurse's hand right off my belly! We all laughed and she said, "Wow...I want to be in the room when this baby is born...she's a strong one!" LOL

I love that feeling. And it's true that you really do miss that feeling after the baby is born. It's like a little secret that only the two of you share. :-)

Yeah it's probably the baby and don't listen to what the other people say...because each pregnancy and each woman is different. It really shouldn't be that strong of a feeling because compared to the bubble of water it's floating in- it's not that big. It has nothing really to do with how big you are. I felt my little one when I was only 14 weeks (but I pretty much knew what to look for) and according to those "people" I shouldn't be able to feel anything since I'm a big girl. Now at 25 weeks and the baby is getting really big even my husband can feel it, but again those "people" said he would never feel it because all the "fat" I have around my tummy.

You know what you're feeling and that's all that matters. Enjoy the light flutters now! Because soon they will not always feel as nice...they can be annoying or uncomfortable at times. (My little one gets the hiccups for hours and drives me crazy- because it usually happens right when I go to bed!) Good luck and congrats on your flutter bug!

Sounds like that's what it is! The really early movements for me felt like pressure and as if something was rolling (or swimming!) around inside me. It's a little different for everyone, though! As the baby got bigger, it felt like pokes and nudges from the inside. Those little feelings finally turned into kicks and punches. Wait a few weeks and you'll start seeing all these wonderful things from the outside! My whole belly jumps around when the baby is active. Coolest thing in the world!

I was confused, too, by people's description of the baby's movements feeling like gas. However, when you get farther along and your baby turns in towards your spine and kicks towards your back, THEN it feels like gas. It's just that...well, you don't actually have gas. :) Enjoy this time! It gets better and better!

Congrats and best of luck!

It has nothing to do with your small frame. I am 5'1" and before I got pregnant I weighed 100. I didn't feel (or know that I felt it) until I was almost 5 months pregnant. (about 24 weeks)
My daughter is 21w6d pregnant with her first baby and she started feeling the baby move at 17 weeks.
It varies for women. But it doesn't have anything to do with your size. I think alot of it has to do with your nerves being able to pick up the movement earlier than other women.
Congratulations.

It's deffinently from the baby..With my first I felt movement at 18 weeks (and I'm a bigger girl) And like you said,I also know the difference between gas and baby moving...
I'm currently 12 weeks with my second baby and I can't wait!!
Enjoy the 'little' movements while they're little..because once they get a bit bigger they can become a little uncomfortable at times-although they're still amazing and reassuring to feel!!
Congrats:)

17 weeks is a normal time to be feeling baby, and you're right, it feels just like a fish wiggling around in there, or like a butterfly, or like gas bubbles that dont move like gas bubbles.

It is amazingm isnt it? You'll never forget it as long as you live.

For me it kind of felt like butterflies in my stomach. Wait until your baby grows and starts REALLY kicking you. Even when they kick you right in the ribs, its an amazing feeling! My fiance would sit there and poke my belly and she would kick back at him. He loved it just as much as I did.

I thought it felt like fish too....
the weird thing to me was after I had my twins for months
I would be holding one of them and she would wiggle against my stomach and it felt the same... strange I know but it did to me.
