It is just too bad Linda that you committed a crime and went to prison. It is too bad that while you were in prison you did not take advantage of any educational opportunities that were presented to you because your spelling and grammar are horrible. But, it is not discriminatory to judge a person by their past behavior. It is how we all judge people. You can say repeatedly that you will never violate the law again but no one is going to trust that. The only way to regain trust is to work at it. That means you take any job that is offered to you. You cannot be picky. Many businesses do not do background checks. Try applying to most retail establishments they are the ones who rarely do background checks but they will ask if you have committed a felony and if you lie and they find out they will fire you. While you are working and showing that you can be trusted, go back to school. Get educated. Learn what you want to do for the rest of your life. As time goes on that conviction will mean less and less. No whining, no complaining just hard work and lots of effort these are the things that WILL get you the good things in life.

Decrimination? It's discrimination to judge a person on their past behavior? Our actions have consequences. Criminal convictions are a LEGITIMATE criteria to use in screening prospective employees. Using your twisted logic, applying ANY criteria to the screening process would be discrimination.
P.S. Spell check.

Should a bank robber be allowed towork in a bank? A car thief allowed to sell cars? You should have thought of that before you went on your crime spree. Society does not trust convicted criminals. Maybe we should allow child molesters to work in daycare centers. Your argument is no good. You make choices in your life and if they are the wrong ones, live with them like the rest of us.

What "discrimination laws" would those be? There is no law against choosing the more morally upright and law abiding candidate for a position. If you chose to be a criminal and you're still haunted by the consequences, it's YOUR problem, not society's.
