I believe bryant gumbel is one of the most obnoxious black sports announcers (other than Deion) I have ever seen. Is this affirmative action at its worst.

yes, but not to most black people. that is my impression. the fact that gumbell continues to be chosen by the producers speaks for itself.

his profound personality disorder npd is still inflicted upon millions of viewers who reflect this opinion in audience surveys.

at best, have pity on the fool. he knows not what he "doeth" or what the problem is.

He is the worst! He knows nothing about the game (that's obvious). He blew the opening when the Cowboy's took the field ("...and here come the Green Bay Packers"), he would automatically tack on the xtra point before it got kicked (... "and Dallas leads by 10", even though Folk had not kicked the point after), he referred to Tony Romo as "Ricky" Romo twice, and he blew sponsored segments by announcing the wrong sponsor... I could go on and on.

He also does not have a play by play voice like a Nessler, Summaral, or even Mike Patrick (who sucks also). If I wanted the Today Show, Katie Courick, and a weather guy to announce an NFL NETWORK PRIME TIME FOOTBALL GAME, then I would be happy. But I don't.

The best thing was that Collinsworth was burying him all night with his knowledge of the game!

Gumbel is probably the worst broadcast announcer I've ever heard at that level.
Not only is he obnoxiuos, he is boring and lacks rudimentary knowledge of the players.

His show on HBO is pretty decent, but he simply cannot due game broadcasts. I can't believe he still has that gig. Then again is Kornheiser can still exist on MNF, the bar is pretty low in that profession.

No more than usual. No one ever accused him of being the sharpest pencil in the box

Its like John Madden being a judge on "American Idol".
NFL network saved some$ by contracting him.
