People have forgotten that being "American" means supporting the country first.
I'm as confused by this as you are.

Why do you assume all the accusations are true?
Just because something shows up in the press, that doesn't mean it is true. The press is not just partisan, they are also quite stupid and stunningly lazy. In other words, they often, not always but often, get it WRONG.
So, and I think this is true for both parties, often when a party or a politician is accused of something, it's simply not true, or else distorted to the point that it no longer deals with reality.
Sure, sometimes these stories are true... look at that Representative from Louisiana that was caught with bribe money, numbered bills, in his home freezer... that's pretty guilty.
But remember how "EVERYONE" was SURE that Representative Gary Condit had killed the intern he was sleeping with? Turns out he didn't, it was just a random mugging. He was guilty of adultery but not murder... not that this slowed down Fox News any in hinting and implying that he killed her, and humiliating his family, every 20 min. for about 12 weeks.
The press jumped all over Bush for how Katrina was a disaster and it was all FEMA's fault. Well it turns out that simply wasn't true, and you can see it now. First of all it wasn't as bad as the press was saying... it wasn't great, (that's why the call it "a disaster") but there were no rapes or murders or gang wars or canibals in the Superdome, second the blame for the colapse of disaster reliefe lies in the fact the local and state governments were run by morons and both local and state government dropped the ball big time, something that became more and more obvious the more the press payed attention to that fool Nagan and the idiot govenor of Louisiana, and lastly FEMA did an excellent job in disasters before (the Florida hurricanes of 2004, I was there) and after (the California Wildfires). As time went on it became pretty obvious (to anyone who was looking) that what CNN was saying simply wasn't true.... so CNN moved on to something else.
So both Democrats and Republicans defend their party and their politicians from the Press because the press is lazy, stupid, biased and, about as often as not, simpy WRONG.

I only defend a politician when the facts are being misrepresented regarding the actions of a particular politician. It's more a question of being fair than being partisan. If they really did screw up, as opposed to the opposition spinning the details, then the politician is on their own.

I don't..I am happy to call out someone for wrongdoing in my party. I said from the beginning that Bush is very wrong about amnesty.
I get offended when I am accused of being a koolaid drinker or some other junk because I do not believe the same as someone else. I am tired of the hate mail from people who completely blow one of my answers out of proportion...I am tired of all of the insults that people throw out there with no proof and no class. But I have no problem with someone from my party being exposed if they have done wrong.

What channel are you watching? Every pundit on Fox News criticizes Democrats for taking too extreme a position. Isn't Fox News part of the media? Moderation should be a virtue for both parties. Conservatives have no concept of what moderation is, though, demonstrated by their attempts to characterize anything liberal as socialist.

Because all politicians do bad things, it's a given. But I prefer the POLICIES of the Republicans. And if you think this logic is flawed, look at all the Democrats that are currently under indictment yet in House leadership position. They feel exactly the same way about their people, they don't like the bad things they do, but they like their policies (and if you want another example, look at the way Clinton treated women, yet women still love him).

If I believe the republicans are wrong on something I'm the first to say it...for example I have stated many times in YA how I think President Bush is absolutely wrong on the immigration problem, that he should have shut down the borders and so on...I believe if we are attacked and its found they came over our borders that he will rightfully go down as a bad president....but if I believe republicans are right, such as on the Iraq war, I will also defend them ....that's called being politically honest....

I don't defend their wrong doings. I said that Clinton was awful for cheating on his wife. (which btw, isn't any of anyones business, that is between him and Hillary)
But I would so much rather my president get a bj than to be responsible for thousands upon thousands of deaths.
Weigh it out. Doesn't even compare.
Bush is a snake.

They care more about the party. All these parties do is raise money and represent special interests. It is the biggest racket ever, I least we know that the mafia is illegal.Would you buy a car from any politician, if so you are more gullible than I thought.
