I have often been told that we never hear from him or about him in the mainstream press, because he is too subversive to the current or dominant government line or policy; and apparently that applies to every US administration going back to the 60's. How can one person be so "right" about everything, and yet be so ignored by the rest of us. Name me another person in history you might compare him too.

Avram Noam Chomsky (Hebrew: אברם נועם חומסקי) (born December 7, 1928) is an American linguist, philosopher, political activist, author, and lecturer. He is an Institute Professor and professor emeritus of linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Chomsky is credited with the creation of the theory of generative grammar, considered to be one of the most significant contributions to the field of linguistics made in the 20th century. He also helped spark the cognitive revolution in psychology through his review of B. F. Skinner's Verbal Behavior, in which he challenged the behaviorist approach to the study of behavior and language dominant in the 1950s. His naturalistic approach to the study of language has also affected the philosophy of language and mind. He is also credited with the establishment of the Chomsky hierarchy, a classification of formal languages in terms of their generative power.

According to the Arts and Humanities Citation Index in 1992, Chomsky was cited as a source more often than any other living scholar during the 1980–1992 time period, and was the eighth-most cited scholar in any time period.[1][2][3]

Beginning with his critique of the Vietnam War in the 1960s, Chomsky has become more widely known—especially internationally—for his media criticism and politics. He is generally considered to be a key intellectual figure within the left wing of United States politics. Chomsky is widely known for his political activism, and for his criticism of the foreign policy of the United States and other governments.

He's indeed too subversive and tells truth the power holders do not want ut to know. With a little research it is however easy to find his work. I wouldn't compare him to anyone because I think he's very much unique. I try to follow his work and am always impressed by his insight and clear language he uses. This is a great site I use to follow this great intelectual and thinker

But any internet or yourtube search brings up tons of results. This guy is way too smart outspoken and because of that he's dangerous for the powerholders. These are some of my favorites from his work

Chomsky has described the mainstream media as a propaganda arm of the big corporations and the US government. The mainstream media is not likely to provide much information on him to the public, under the circumstances.

Noam Chomsky is both a professor of linguistics at MIT and also an author of books. He has written books both on the American politics as well as on linguistics. He used to modify or change his linguistic theories every few years and his students therefore used to find his theories very difficult.

Why are you assuming that he is so "right"? You do know that you are talking about the person who supported the Pol Pot regime? There is a chapter in After the Cataclysm, a book he co-authored, where he defends the genocide perpetuated by the Pol Pot regime.

His ideas are indeed radical, some of them make sense while others are really more sophisticated versions of lame conspiracy theories. He hates the US government and goes to absurd lengths to justify the actions of any group that opposes it. This enemy of my enemy is my friend mentality allowed him to justify the atrocities committed by the Pol Pot regime. Personally, I believe he shot his credibility to hell when he wrote that chapter.

He is interesting to read...very smart man. It's doubtful that you'll find any conservatives that have actually read his work...they just take it for word that he's a 'kook'. Howard Zinn would be a good comparison.
