I just bought a new black ink cartridge and replaced it since the old one was worn out. Ive printed in both black and color since then, for maybe a week now.

However, since yesterday the pritner wont print any document in black ink. Ive ran the test page and it is printing in black and color but when i try to print the document, it wont print in black.

I have already wiped the head of the cartridges before trying again, but with no luck. Any Ideas?

Take the black cartridge out of the printer, take a paper towel and fold it in half, dab the cartridge on it to see if it's bleeding, my guess not , so squeeze the sides of the cartridge to induce bleeding, dab again and not in the same spot so you can see it bleed better or not, when you get a good solid line out of it put it back into the printer and try again, good luck hope that helped.

Ink is a lubricant for the print heads. some shade ink is used in spite of in case you purely print in black. in case you revealed with a shade lacking, you would be able to desire to smash that print head from the friction of working without ink to luricate it. it is why maximum printers won't show you how to print with a shade lacking in spite of while you're no longer using it. in case you enable a shade to circulate empty, the residual ink in the pinnacle could desire to clog and alter into completely blocked. you could by no skill have the means to print that shade back. So continuously replace ink cartridges as quickly as they are empty. Leaving your printer on takes little or no skill. each and every so regularly the printer sends a sign to cycle the ink in the heads so it does not clog. in case you turn your printer off, the subsequent time you turn it on it is going to do a cleansing which wastes fairly some ink. the surplus ink is soaked up by using the waste pad below the printer. whilst the waste pad is complete, the printer stops working. except you opt to spend extra beneficial than the cost of the printer or waste fairly some time on a messy cleanup you will finally end up throwing the printer out. So shutting it off fairly shortens its existence. in case you circulate away the printer off for prolonged sessions of time, the ink in the heads will clog and you will could desire to throw the printer away. somebody i understand with a Canon (nevertheless this could take place with any inkjet) had to have the heads replaced two times in the 1st few months in the previous the Canon tech advised her to end turning it off. because then it has worked completely for over a 12 months.
