I don't reccomend it for several reasons. #1 toxic oil in left over jugs around the house. #2 the possability you don't get a proper seal on the oilfilter housing. Another 4 / 5 qts of oil mess to clean up. #3 oil filter and drain plug may not be tight enough and fall off while driving. With no one to blame you pay for a new motor. Budget oil change places are ok. BMW dealership will catch small problems before they become big problems reccomend repairs and keep records. I thought BMW came with Free maintence for 3 years? Still disposing with the oil and hassles filter wrenches ramps to get the car up high enough to craw under removing the splash shield locating filter and tools to do the job You could of had it done at the oil change pit. Oil type and viscositys are in the owners manual.

its kinda hard to explain online lol .. first of all you can go out and buy the repair manual .. it will tell you where everything is... wheni change the oil for my camaro i got under the car and take out the screw where the oil resides to let the bad oil drain out ... also you need to go buy an oil filter that needs to be replaced .. to help speed up the process take off the cap that says OIL .. under the hood .. the air rushing through the hole will just let the oil drain faster.... after the oil is drain screw everything back into place , replace the filter, then add however many quarts of oil you need to.... once thats done start the car for a few seconds then check if youve added enough

now that ive acutally read whta ur asking LOL .... open up ur owners manaual .. it tells u what kind u need .. for the oil filter just go to walmart and buy a filter .. theres a huge book of all the car models in that area ... open it up and play the mathign game lol

Go to Auto barn or R&S Strauss. Ask the guy who works there what type of oil you need to buy. Also change the oil filter. I believe using a partly synthetic oil is better. (It helps prevent breakdown of the oil so that it protects your engine better!) Hope I've helped! :)

Phone the dealer and ask for the type of oil your BMW model takes

Oil changes are usually less than $20. I'd leave it to the pros's.
That way you don't have to get rid of the oil you drain out.
