Males and females both cheat. I don't think it's genetic either. I was a true, faithful woman to the worst of men ever in my life - all the time - never cheated. But - I broke up with my boyfriend of five years, rebounded and ended up cheating on the rebound guy. There's no rhyme or reason to it. I do believe though that certain people believe once they do it they can always do it, always get away with it, so they may be predispositioned to cheat later on.
Men are no more likely to cheat than women. There are different reasons men and women cheat though. Most of the time men cheat because they are not satisfied in the bedroom; women cheat because they are not being emotionally satisfied. (Not a fact, just something I read.)

I disagree... for one, there are plenty of faithful men and unfaithful women. It all depends on morals. I know there are some guys out there that try to claim that it is an evolutionary trait for men to want to "spread their seed" or whatever, but lucky for human males they also have a BRAIN. Anyone with a conscience or a frontal lobe to their brain (the part responsible for anticipating consequences to their actions and planning for the future) should know that cheating is wrong. If anyone feels like doing that, they should either go into couples therapy or split.

I do not believe that men are born to cheat. Men choose to cheat. There are many different reasons why men cheat but there is no excuse for them to do so. If they aren't happy with the women they choose then they shouldn't be with them. In turn there are also women who cheat also and the same goes for him. Stating that women and men are different and this is the reason they cheat is completely ridiculous.
Cheating is wrong no matter if it is men or women and there is no difference on who does the cheating.

It makes sense that men want to procreate as often as possible in order to better insure species survival. For the same reason, it also makes sense that women want a spouse who sticks around to take of her and her children. (It's not like we're born immediately able to fend for ourselves!)
However, one of things that separate man from other animals, is the ability to rise above our animal nature. Our society has also ingrained (sp?) in us a strong concept of a monogamous society. So really, there is no excuse for anyone to cheat. If a man (or woman) is going to blame genetics, than they're saying that the man doesn't have the self-awareness to qualify has human being.

I think it's a load of horse poop.
Any lady who believes that she should stay faithful and forgive a lying, cheating scumbag needs to have some self esteem going!
If he can mess around and use members of the opposite gender for his own self-gratification, so can she!
If every woman remained faithful, guys would find it rather difficult to get laid, wouldn't they?
Anyhoo, I think the theory that women are supposed to be all 'good and faithful' while men can do whatever they please is just a remnant of old-fashioned sexism.
Edit- Oh, and "srajendran m", learn to spell before you make sexist generalisations. Men are NOT smarter than women, as proven by the fact you have just been out-typed by a fourteen-year-old girl.

whoever thinks a woman doesn't cheat hasn't met my ex wife. both genders cheat pretty much equally.. Myself I have never cheated, and there is NO forgiveness for cheating. People cheat because thier needs are not being taken care of by thier partners, some people crave attention and will go to any length to get it. In my opinion if your partener wants to be with someone else they should break off the current realtionship before moving on with another, and if cheating is suspected in a relationship roll out the red carpet and kick them to the curb

NO, not at all. I don't even see how that's possible, genes are more complex than that. All they do is create your physical appearance and insides, not traits. Most traits are genes, but that one just kinda grows on you from street smarts. Why would someone think like that? Some guys are REALLY honest and would never do that. Sometimes its the opposite. My friend, who's a girl, just cheated on somebody, she discovered it was wrong, but she can't change her past. All she knows is to never do it again. Try to clear that person who thinks that's mind, no tellin' what they've been preachin'! Y'all know faithfullness comes to ya after birth and "cheat genes" aren't humanly, or earthly, possible.

You're talking about our good old caveman instincts.
It is in a man's instincts to spread his genes as widely as possible. In other words, to mate with as many women as possible.
It is in a woman's instincts to secure the protection of a male, so that she and her children will be provided for.
However.... This nesting instinct of women does not extend to sexual fidelity! Women are instinctively driven to mate with any and all males exhibiting good genetics, so as to have the best offspring possible. In other words, she needs to have a reliable male provider, but doesn't necessarily mate exclusively with him alone when she is fertile.
Of course, in a modern society, we are more than the sum of our instincts. We can and do aspire to higher ideals than simply living by our animalistic urges.

"Genes to Cheat" ? That's a "Big Crock" of
"Betty Crotcher" Sh**.
The only gene's guy's are born with are
Gene Simmons like genes, that give you the uncontrolable desire to stick your tongue out and
"Lick it Up", especialy if it's got ice cream on it !
Better yet, if the guy is still relatively close to the time at which he was born with those
"Gene's" genes, 15 - 21 yrs. it can even have blood on it.
Gene Simmons was on occasion, breifly glimpsed, to have been with his tongue sticking out and a few drops of blood on his lip here and there !
But "Cheating" ? "No Way" !
That's voluntary, and pre - meditated, not genetic !

I think those notions are total BS. There might be some very slim, deep biological basis for them, dating back to our very distant primate ancestors, but the human urge to mate is something that is under our control and is our responsibility. That kind of logic is no more plausible than saying, "The Devil made me do it."
