I've recently left a very abusive realtionship. I have two wonderful children (5 and 13). They both have session's with a prof. But I would really like to find a support group for kids? As my eldest find it difficult to trust others, I think it would be beneficial for him to interact with kids in a similar situation. I live in New York city.

go to all the local nyc websites and see what they have to offer as far as free local counseling - hope all works out sweetie

Go directly to a Christian church this Sunday and reach out and ask! (Christian churches are Catholic or protestant, denominations like Lutheran, Methodist, Presbytarian, Episcopalian, Baptist...) and inquire about kids programs. Enjoy your own private time in church with adults and the kids can safely bond. It is a FANTASTIC way to begin a safe, social lifestyle, surround yourself with great friends, and establish a life built on faith instead of fear. It is what holds us all up with empowerment instead of a feeling of powerlessness. Don't forget to encourage a friend to join you and be there for your church friends. In a circle of faith, we raise each other up and HEAR the peacemakers louder than in life without going to church.
Kid programs in church are fantastic...for all ages of kids to age 110! ;-)

there should be something available throught your county or township. they have specific areas that deal with domestic abuse. call them or you local p.d. one of them will be able to direct you.
