My friend does manga art... and posts it on deviant art.... I was wondering how he colors his art so well? I do know that he drawed it out at 1st, and scanned it to his computer. What program does he use to color his drawings?

There are a LOT of applications that can do this. We have no way of knowing how your friend does it. Why don't you ask HIM?

I would use Adobe Photoshop, mostly because that is what I have and I know how to use it very well. Coloring scanned images is one of the EASIEST things one can do with Photoshop.

The Corel suite can do this, equally well, along with Painter. From what I hear of Gimp, this kind of work would be easy to do in that application.

In the hands of a patient user, I imagine coloring in comic characters in Window's paint could be effective.

what I do and I have published several kids books. I draw my picture with black ink then I scanned it at a high Resoultion with a desktop scanner, then In photoshop and sometimes corel photo paint i colorize the art. Now there are other types of scanners. I have worked in the field. One of the highest resoultions to scan is called a drum scanner and they use this when a large scan like for a calander photo needs to be used. I am a photo touch up artist and I would correct their photos for them before it printed. there are scanners and drum scanners can too actually scan from a photo negative, those are the nicest photographs that are possible. I hope this helps you a little bit. However if you have a scanner of anytype, just scan them at high dots per inch and you will get a great looking piece of art. You know like 300 or 600 dpi
