step 1. remove the +2 on the left side by subtracting 2 from each side:
x/7 + 2 -(2) = 9 -(2)
remember what you do to one side you must do to the other side. They are jealous sides tee-hee.
so now, we simplify and come up with:
x/7 = 7
step 2.
To get rid of the 7, under the x, we multiply by 7. Both sides!
(7)(x/7) = 7(7)
we now have a solution for x
x = 49
Now check by subbing in (49) wherever you see x in the original equation
(49)/7 + 2 = 9 which is correct!
