You REALLY need to understand what Shares are all about before squandering your money (and loosing your shirt)

For a start, the cost of an individual share is meaningless .... what you need to look at are how relatively profitable the company is - i.e. the PE (Price Earnings) Ratio - and how much of the profits are returned to the shareholders (the Yield)...... when looked at together with the Market Segment the company is operating in, this allows you to evaluate if the shares are 'cheap' or 'expensive' ...

You also need to know that typical dealing charges mean you need to buy (and sell) shares in lots of at least £1000 or so (if you want to see much profit) - and you need to consider spreading your investments over about 10 different companies in different market segments (to minimise risk - ask those who had 50% of their money in Banks how well they are doing today) ...

So unless you have at least £10,000 to invest you are typically better off sticking to Unit Trusts etc.

You don`t really understand the stockmarket,it seems. The price of a share is relatively less important than the amount you are investing. Like a lot of novices , you seem to think that a share at £ 1.50p is cheaper than a share at £ 15.00 , which is not always true , until you have compared the fundamentals. 100 million shares at 150p would mean the same capitilisation as 10 million shares at 1500p. Be guided by the fundamentals not the share price.
