I recently bought a HP TX1320 with AMD 64 2.2GHz
2GB RAM, 250GB sata HDD. It boots much slower that the one bought
last year which is ASUS W5F with Core 2 duo 1.66GHz
1.5GBRAM,100GB IDE HDD
Please tell me why ...CPU matters?.Because AMD has a much smaller cashe than core 2 duo ..or mother board matters? the HP has a better HDD(SATA), faster CPU...larger memory but small cashe memory ...AMD's is 1MB and core 2 duo has 2 MB

Does not matter the cache size btn amd and the core 2 since amd makes up for the less cache on the L2 bus, maybe you are running a different OS, different set of applications that require to be cached on the bootstrap loader...I would think is the bottleneck as a more recent pc would mean more powerful software. try checking your registry for redundant entries or unneccesary startup programs.

well couple of things

(1) look at operating systems. if the new one has vista, it will be slower because vista takes a lot more RAM and has a lot more features. remember, the faster the computers get, the more feature-rich programs they write and so at the end of the day the equivalent speed doesn't increase but i guess you get more value per hertz or byte
(2) AMD is behind the curve... the new processor standard is the core 2 duos because they are smaller and perform more efficiently. i have a 2 gig core duo which is faster that my little bros 2.4 gig athlon

until you spend somewhat some funds, its somewhat not elementary to locate a workstation with a committed GFX card. i think of a few variations of Alienware desktops or different gaming particular distributors so this, yet you in addition to would pay a top rate for that. Gaming on a workstation is a discomfort because of the fact its not actual updatable and additionally the cooling on a workstation is very unfavorable. human beings use desktops for a reason. Ditch the workstation and get a workstation

has the older one got XP, while the newer one has Vista?

Vista is fairly demanding on laptops, even with specs like that. XP demands much less system resources, thus making processes faster.

If this is the case, and you want performance over looks, than you might want to do a full re-install of ur OS.

your cache loads the files from the hard drive to the ram to display on your monitor - and then puts them back when you save them and are done

yep a smaller cache will give you fits!

They are making them slower because of the affect the speed has on overheating the batteries.
