My philosophy professor says it was not Mama Mary. Actually, we were all shocked when we heard that it was Saint Anne, Mama Mary's mother, who conceived Jesus Christ. How come did this happen?

Your professor is over analyzing the simple message. Go to the source of the truth. The Bible. It states quite plainly that Mary was the one who was the one who bore the Christ into the world.
It was God the Holy Father who impregnated her by spirit. In other words by the very thought God had her conceive without the physical act of copulation. The woman was a virgin upon conception. She was still a virgin with the Christ's birth.

Already in the beginning God had elected Mary to her unique vocation in the scheme of salvation.Long ages before she was conceived in the womb of Anna ,Mary was anthologically conceived and sanctified for the devine purpose. Mary was conceived in the womb of Anna (Joachim abd Anna).Angels visited the the aged barren parents.In other words Mary was conceived the same way Jesus was ,by the power of the Holy Spirit. Therefore Mary was sinless.She did not have original sin. That is why she is called The Immaculate Conception. Mary was from the beginning "endowed with grace",or in the more familiar translation ,"full of grace".To be filled with grace is to be in the opposite condition from that of original sin.So ,you could say that Jesus did come from Anna ,through Mary .
