Actually, the first law on the books concerning cannabis was that the plant had to be grown by law. It was just that important for there to be hemp in early America. Don't worry, when the oil wells start to run dry, we'll have to go back to hemp because we can no longer afford using plastics for everything.

Yeah, I'm waiting for some conservative to support the legalization of marijuana. Conservatives are all for states rights unless it involves a federal government cracking down on a harmless weed for some reason.

<> Just because something it legal doesn't mean it's right. <> There's a reason you can't spell 'assume' without '***'. People who assume too much end up making asses of themselves. < murder, how come?>> Doesn't make sense, does it - and yet, there you are advocating people merely ASSUME the government is right! <> WRONG! <> Ad hominem attacks hurt your credibility. Perhaps Marc, like me, doesn't see too much in the way of credibility when reading your question. < is NOT murder.>> The term "fetus" literally means "the young in the womb". The fetus IS a living human being. Life begins at conception, not birth nor some arbitrary point in between. Therefore, every abortion constitutes the murder of an unborn human being. <> But the fetus IS human. Therefore, abortion IS murder. < and stupid imagination.>> What's so narrow minded about acknowledging the unborn for the living human beings they are? Since you're unable to do that, wouldn't that suggest your mind is in fact more narrow than mine? < person NOT two.>> That just goes to show how schizophrenic human institutions can be - and you want to ASSUME such an institution (the government) is right.

Back in 1776 they had what we call morals and respect.(you may need to look those 2 words up to see what they mean) They didnt need a law to say dont kill your unborn kids, and dont smoke mind altering drugs and drive and work on machines.

Abortion was NOT legal. That's ridiculous. Midwives may have performed them but they weren't legal. Fabric and ropes were the main use of marijuana then, not smoking it.

Cocaine was legal during prohibition. The cops would spend all day smashing up stills and then relax with a little freebase. It's all arbitrary. It's not to protect people from themselves, it's to enable a police state.
