No because it is not the same thing as heroin. Cigarettes are addicting, but it's not a drug at all.
I don't think smoking should be banned at all. Don't get me wrong, I think it's gross, unhealthy, expensive, and a stupid thing to do and I'd never do it, but I think people have the right to smoke. There's constantly ads on TV, magazines, newspapers, internet, etc that inform people of the health risk that cigarettes pose and that they're addictive. As long as people know the consequences of smoking, they should be allowed to do it.

No. Smoking is bad to the individual. You can smoke a cigarette and drive and operate heavy machinery. Smoking doesn't affect your judgement. Smoking is a personal choice of the person doing it and their desire to continue smoking or to stop smoking is theirs entirely. Because they don't have the discipline to stop doesn't mean that it should be illegal. They are warned right ont he package in the media constantly. Heroin addicts are people who can't quite even if they wanted to without medical intervention. While under the influence of heroin a persons judgement is majorly affected. This makes the drug harmful to the individual and to the general populace. If someone wants to harm themselves with no risk to others, then that is their right in America at least. If second hand smoke is harmful to others, they can choose to remain there or to leave. Second hand smoke is only dangerous if you decide to remain near the smoker to continue inhaling it. I am not a smoker, but it is really irritating me when other people try to impose their beliefs and biast on the rest of the populace. These people are, in my opinion, more of a threat to the general populace than the smokers or heroin users. They use their numbers to force people to do things they way they believe are the right way. This is oppression and in infringes on my liberties. Leave the smokers alone or adopt the argument that the increased health risk is driving up healthcare cost and costing the country billions which in that fashion does affect the populace in a negative fashion. You can't compare cigarrettes to other drugs in an honest equatible comparison. The math isn't there. However, cigarrettes cost the country more than treatment of addiction and law enforcement cost combined. That should be the argument not the health or addiction aspect of the product. Obesity cost the united states government billions in healthcare each year. Obesity is responsible for a large portion of the disability claims to insurance. If you want to save america, fight obesity at the federal leve.
