I have size 34 G breasts (that's a 34 DDDD). Every night when I take off my bra, it's physically painful and my breasts are extremely sore. I am thinking about getting a breast reduction in about 2 or 3 years because I have back pain and it's just impossible for me to have breasts this big, but I am wondering, do any of you experience the same extreme pain I do when you take off your bras? I'm wondering if this is normal.

p.s. I was most recently fitted for bras at the end of the summer and I know I'm wearing the right size, so the problem couldn't be my bra. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Yes it happened to me too.

Got a reduction Feb 2006 (insurance covered it all!) and don't regret it one bit. Scars are hardly noticeable (with the before/after pictures, take note of how far post op they are, as scars should have at least a year to fade, and can be taken care of with Mederma and ScarGuard as well as a good PS and patient). My breasts look completely natural.

Where exactly is the pain?

Is it in the shoulders (from the straps)? Is it where the underwires are? Is it from your breasts spilling into your armpits? Are the cups digging into your breasts.

If the answer to any of the above is 'yes', you could be wearing the wrong bra for your size.

Take note of the bra sites here:

Speaking for my wife (who just got a significant breast augmentation 16 days ago), she went from a very saggy 38DD to a... well, I had the foresight to order her a 38H from HerRoom.com (one of the sites listed on the link above). And today it seems to be a perfect fit, despite the fact that her implants still need to finish dropping. The straps are padded and wide, the cups blend nicely into a wide bra strap (6 hooks), she just loves it.

A proper fitting bra will most likely help alleviate some of your back pain.

Oh, one other thing. After my wife felt good enough post-op to get back to the gym (limited regimen, of course), she spent some time on the treadmill and found that it gave her shoulders and lower back some fantastic relief. Now her situation isn't exactly like yours, as the pull on her shoulders was mainly dealing with swelling and an unnatural pull from the tight tissues (which are gradually relaxing).

You might as well try investigating the bra option, as it could well give you some much needed relief. And if it turns out to be the fix, you'll save yourself some money and some scarring. (Check out some before/after reduction pics sometime; take note of the 'boxy' look post-op. The scars can mostly be dealt with via proper treatment/revision.)

38 ddd here...and yes....it used to be worse when I was younger, and skinnier. Now I have gained weight, but it is still painful....if you ask me, they are useless....never know why women have breast enlargement. Good luck!
