That is common but is not always the case. If you are accepted to a college they want to encourage you to come there, so they usually send you more information. There may also be some forms to be filled out regarding your enrollment there. If you are rejected, all they send you is a letter telling you that they couldn't accept you, so it only takes a regular envelope (which isn't always white; it is generally is whatever the school's letterhead looks like).

no it's not like another answer, I to got a small envelope and a few days later I got the rest of the info need to put me in school. To find out if you have been accepted open the envelope and read what is in it.

It tends to be that when you are accepted, the college sends alot more material about the school and what your next step should be. However if you are not accepted, they don't send all that extra material.

NO i haven't been to college but that's the stupidiest thing i've heard they should just kick them out if they're rejected.

The school I'm going to right now sent me a small evelope and then about two weeks later sent me a bigger one
