It would be safe to have the transmission serviced every 30,000 miles or so.

Your owners manual should tell the manufacturers recommended mileage , it seems like most say 30,000 or 2 years.
There is a filter in the transmission also. many of the quicky lubs don't change it so be aware of this.
If it is dirty it needs changed (dark) , if it is black and smells burnt it needs farther checking .
I have seen transmissions with well over 100,000 and still strong with out ever been changed.

Your glovebox manual will say. unfortunately there is no drain plug on 99.9 automatic transmissions. which means the pan has to be removed. they do that because the filter has to be changed with change of fluids.. and yes dont skimp on that. i have worked in a transmission shop years ago and the fluid is the blood of a transmission.. a blown transmission is EXPENSIVE... IM me for more info

I had an '81 Chevy Chevette that I drove for 125,000 miles and when I sold it, it still had the original trans. fluid in it from when I bought the car new in 1981. The fluid was still nice and pink and clean. It must have been one of a kind.
Go with what your owner's manual recommends for fluid changes.

Many people will tell you to service it differently, as always I recommend a good grade of transmission fluid, Mopar +4 or equiv. A fluid exchange at 30K, then a pan inspection, Filter and fluid exchange again at 60K. repeat this schedule every 30K.

about every 30,000 miles is right for most vehicles, do not put mopar +4 in that tranny just because some idiot said to. Mopar fluids are specifically designed for MOPAR vehicles and may not work in your tranny. Do not have your tranny flushed by anyone except a tranny shop, generally you should not let anyone service a tranny except a tranny shop and stay away from chain tranny shops. I sold tranny part for years and of 40 or so Chain type tranny (AAMCO etc) shops that I dealt with, I only found one that I would take my vehicle too. (AAMCO Las Cruces New Mexico). make sure that the shop has regular and recent training for its technicians (certificates on the wall and not ASE certificates)

both answers are good. I have found that 30k is good. Funny that is used to be said that you didn't need to ever change fluid but when I started changing I havent had to replace a trany since 1989! that is about 200000 miles!
