I would never buy hartz , I heard terrible things and once bought a cat toy that my cat destroyed within literally 2 minutes...what company would make that crappy of a toy obviously they don't know what they are doing and they wouldn't send me a refund!

No, they're not OK. No flea collars are - even the few that are still sold in vets are pointless.
The chemicals contained in flea collars do not spread through the skin - fleas actually have to walk over the collar to die, what's the point in that?
Stay away from all flea treatment from pet stores - stores aren't licensed to sell products containing the drugs that are actually useful and safe for flea treatment, so don't expect any of them to work. Collars, shampoos, powders, bombs, store-bought spot-ons: none of them.
Stick with Frontline, Advantage, Revolution or Advocate.

Flea collars are not a very good form of flea control and many may end up poisoning your pet. Your best bet is to buy a long lasting flea control that will kill fleas all over the body such as Frontline or Advantage. Flea collars are basically a waste of money.

Flea collars... no matter what type... are completely useless. They will not keep fleas off of your pet. Well, except from around their necks. These little rip-off have been on the market forever and have never worked. But then again so has Old Roy. But in both cases as long as people keep spending money on junk... Other people will continue to make junk.
You don't have to just take my word on this. Open your local phone book and call any five Vets and then any 5 dog groomers and ask them. They will be more than happy to back me up on this.

The spot on treatment will last for a month. There's no reason to use a flea collar also. Spot on treatments are also much more effective than flea collars, which really don't work at all.

I have never liked flea collars, particularly for cats. They have a bad habit of hanging themselves by those things. Even the "breakable" ones aren't completely safe.
I would go with Frontline, Advantage, or Revolution instead for flea control.

Collars don't do any damage, but they help very little. Frontline is a great product. I know it's expensive, but it's SO worth it. If you get fleas in your house it can take a lot more money to get rid of them. good luck

No to flea collars and no to hartz products. Both can be fatal to your pet!! Use Frontline because it is safe for dogs and cats. Advantage is good for dogs but very bad for cats. So seeing you have both you can only use Frontline.

I wouldn't. We've never gotten one, but we use the liquid that moves around with your pet's movement, spreading by itself. Don't you need to keep the collar on your animal? We already have collars for them, and it doesn't seem like they'd work, and I've heard bad things about them. We use Advantage or something, I think.

No- they are awful. They are toxic to pets and don't work either.
Frontline Plus or Advantage. They are the only truly effective flea treatments. The others are junk, more toxic and ineffective.
