They could give George Bsh and Tony Blair a run for their money!
First theysentence the poor teacher to 15 days in jail so as not to loose face.
Then they pay people to demonstrate and call for her to be stoned to death, so that the look good and moderate in their sentencing!
I think that is pretty impressive deflection don't you?

Sometimes things are not as they seem, or how they are portrayed.

Many of those making up the Sudanese government have considerable ties with Britain, for example through the education system or trade. It is unlikely that they would want to jeopardise relations with Britain, especially over an issue like this. However, there are groups within Sudan hostile to the Sudanese government and who would want to see it brought down. The campaign against this unfortunate teacher is not coming from within the Sudanese government, but groups within Sudan seeking to foment a political crisis within the country and within its external relations. The appearance of 'demonstrators' in the streets of Sudan calling for the shooting of this teacher is remarkably well organised, particularly given the apparently lenient sentence being handed down previously, serving to keep the situation inflamed.

The fact that so many are heaping opprobium on the Sudanese government suggests that this is a tactic that is working.

I'd advise caution in interpreting and reacting to this story.
