i need help connecting to the internet i heard you can use other peoples connections or something called linksys? i need help with this and cant seem to figure it out. please let me know.

You will need to call your local internet service provider (ISP). That might be the phone company, the cable company, or whomever. You would have to order their service and then plug your system into the cable they give you.
Your friends mentioned that you need Linksys... that would be a router that might pick up a wireless signal from the neighborhood. You'd have to know if your new laptop has a wireless card, and that wouldn't guarantee that you could get online anyway unless you could find a signal in the area that wasn't protected with a password.

linksys is the type of router the people might have. but their are hawkins, airlinks, and others. most people have a security on their wireless internet. the ones that dont, might be setting u up to access ur computer while ur accessing their wireless internet.

you need to contract for an isp, internet connection service. as said linksys are just routers, not a service.
